An introduction of the Association
The Taiwan Regional Hand Tools Association Was organized on August 15, 1977 after the approval by the ministry of Interior according to the law. A certificate of registration was issued. The services of this association cover only the region of Taiwan.

Services We Provide
1. Statistics, investigation, research, development and improvement on hand tool and related industries both at home and abroad.
2. Cooperation of technology.
3. Protection of the members' legal rights.
4. Arrangement of products shows.
5. Issuance of certificates of membership, certificates of origin of products, and endorsement of legal papers.
6. Coordination among fellow members and between employers and workers in case of a quarrel taking place.
7. Specialty training of employees.
8. Specific services entrusted by the government authorities.
9. Passing the governments policies and regulations on to the members.
10. Others then the above specified.

Organizations
The member representatives convention is the supreme anthority. The chairman of board of Directors is responsible for the association's routine work, and he is the association's representative when other organizations or groups are involves.
To fulfil his duties, there are the board of dirctors, the board of supervisors in addition to 8 committlees for specific jobs and 14 groups for various products anaer his position. Besdes, hte association has an executive seretary and a staff of 3 clerks working under the chairman's direct command.

Activities
Operating on basis of the law of civil organizations, the association calls various meeting periodically. The committees and groups meetings are also called when necessary. The association celebrated its 20th Anniversary of founding in November 1997. Every year some of the members of the association go to Cologne, Chicago, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Paris and other cities for hardware and tools shows. For these trips, the members make arrangements for themselves in consideration of maneuver ability. On May 2, 1997, Some of the members participated the Taipei Build 97, Taipei Building Material, Hardware & construction Show for 4 days. The important activities in 1998 & 1999 are as follows. RECENT ACTIVITIES OF TEH ASSOCIATION ________________________________________ The operations of the Association is based on the industrial Organizations Law. The Associations 2002 annual convention was held at international hall, National hotel in Taichung on September 11 this year. The four joint meetings of the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors were called individually on February 8, may 8, August 7, and November 29. The Associations mission partly aims at the Assistance in the promotion of products qualities and strengthening of sales work of all member manufacturers in order to preserve the markets they have gained and to march to new markets. In this year, our members individually participated in the International Hardware Fair at Cologne in February, Taipei International Hardware ＆ DIY Show at Taipei in October , of which the Association played a role of co-sponsor, and in August, many of the members participated in the National Hardware Show in Chicago. In addition to the above, the Association organized itself group for participations in the following exhibitions： AUTOTEC, Brno, June 8-13, Czech Republic, 7th Moscow International Motor Show, August 21-25, Russia, 14th Expo Nacional Ferretera, September 20-22, Guadalajara, Mexico, Ferroforma 2002, October 20-23, Bilbao, Spain. A study tour to China Steel Corporation was arranged on November 7. where our members saw personally how people worked in the plant. They expressed admiration and respect to the host, and the host entertained lunch in honor of the visitors. On December 26, the CPC showed another friendly gesture by giving a seminar course on the topic of "Selection of steel material and technique of heat treatment". More than 100 representatives from the member companies attended the course The speakers of CPC experts were highly appreciated. From mid June, the Association started working on the e-commerce plans, which are supported by Small ＆ Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, with the purpose to help traditional industries.

Publications
After 8 years of work in cooperation with Trade Winds . we will change to publish a GUIDE BOOK TO TAIWAN HAND TOOLS in cooperation with China Economic News Service early 2003. This guide contains important information on the member manufacturers and their products in addition to the color printed advertisements. It helps buyers to contact the proper manufacturers for proper products. The Association also sends express news letters by computerized fax to its members nonperiodically. Besides, the hand book for the representatives convention is another important publication. Statistics of export and import of hand tools van be provided to all members upon request.
